Last week Peter wrote about his favorite dune.  To be honest, I just don’t get it.  But it really doesn’t matter, we all have our “things”.  For me, I can spend hours in the sand looking for abstract patterns and shapes.

The next time your around dunes of any size and shape, try these tips and see if abstracts materialize for you.  Or follow in Peter’s footsteps, find the most remote dune miles away by foot, trek out there, and claim it.

Tip 1:  Look for intersecting lines and curves

Tip 2:  Look for variation in pattern and smooth sand shapes

Tip 4:  Find repeating patterns and then zoom in and simplify the composition to focus just on them.

Tip 5:  Look for the unexpected to breakup the repeating pattern
